The DeSoto Eagles Varsity Boys Baseball team are gearing up for an exciting spring season, with a roster full of determination, skill, and a shared goal: to make this year their best yet. Under the leadership of Head Coach Rene Sears, along with Assistant Coach Colton Bowen (Varsity) and Coach Victor Moss (JV2), the Eagles are ready to take on a tough and competitive schedule that promises plenty of action, both on and off the field. 

The season opened with a series of scrimmages, which gave the team an opportunity to refine their skills and team chemistry before diving into the more intense matchups. Early scrimmages included: 

  • Monday, February 3rd – @ West Mesquite – V/JV1/JV2 at 4:30 PM/6:00 PM 

  • Friday, February 7th – Irving – V/JV1/JV2 at 5:00 PM/7:00 PM 

  • Tuesday, February 11th – @ Trinity Christian – V (Time TBD) 

  • Saturday, February 15th – @ SOC – V at 11:00 AM/12:45 PM 

  • Monday, February 17th – North Crowley @ Globe Life Field – V at 10:30 AM 


Moving ahead, DeSoto will compete in two exciting tournaments that will test their mettle against some of the region’s best teams: 

  • Thursday-Saturday, February 20-22 – @ Gary T. Balch Classic – V (Times TBD) 

  • Thursday-Saturday, February 27 - March 1 – @ ARL Sequin Adidas – V (Times TBD) 

  • Thursday-Saturday, March 6-8 – David Crumpton Tournament – V (Times TBD) 


As Eagles moves into district play, the competition becomes more intense. The first district matchups are crucial as the Eagles look to build momentum and fly high into competition: 

  • Tuesday, March 11th – @ Mesquite – V at 7:00 PM 

  • Wednesday, March 12th – Mesquite JV – JV1/JV2 at 5:00 PM/7:00 PM 

  • Friday, March 14th – Mesquite – V at 7:00 PM 

  • Tuesday, March 18th – Waxahachie – V at 7:00 PM 

  • Wednesday, March 19th – Waxahachie JV – JV1 at 5:00 PM/7:00 PM 

  • Friday, March 21st – @ Waxahachie – V at 7:00 PM 

  • Tuesday, March 25th – @ Duncanville – V at 7:00 PM 

  • Wednesday, March 26th – Duncanville JV – JV1/JV2 at 5:00 PM/7:00 PM 

  • Friday, March 28th – Duncanville – V at 7:00 PM 


In addition to those critical district matchups, DeSoto will continue their district slate with games against Horn, Cedar Hill, Dallas Skyline, and Lancaster. These games will help shape the final stretch of the season:

  • Wednesday, April 9th – @ Cedar Hill JV – JV1/JV2 at 5:00 PM/7:00 PM 

  • Friday, April 11th – @ Cedar Hill – V at 7:00 PM 

  • Tuesday, April 15th – @ Dallas Skyline – V at 7:00 PM

As the season progresses, DeSoto will also honor their seniors in a special Senior Night celebration on April 25th against Lancaster. It's a night to recognize the dedication and hard work that these players have put into the program, marking the end of an era and the beginning of new opportunities. 

With a tough schedule ahead, the Eagles are not only focused on the wins, but also on the growth of each player—both on the field and as individuals. From the scrimmages to the district games, every match is a step toward improvement and unity.  

Fans, get ready to pack the stands, because this season promises to be one of the most exciting in recent memory. With a strong team and a schedule packed with fierce competition, the DeSoto Eagles look to soar high and are ready to take on whatever challenges come their way.
