Required Return to Campus Requirements

ReconnectSafe Together Requirements for Students Required to Return to In-Person Instruction

Required Return to Campus

Because we want to ensure every student learns at their highest levels, DeSoto ISD will require students who are struggling with virtual learning to return to campus for the remainder of the current academic year.

Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade students who met the following criteria at the semester mark are required to return to on-campus learning beginning Monday, March 29.

Students identified as needing enhanced academic support and interventions were sent both a hard copy letter and email with information regarding transitioning back to campus-supervised learning and whom to contact on their campus prior to Spring Break.

Students who received this notification will not have the option to earn attendance and grade credit for being present virtually. Unless they have/provide a medical exemption, students contacted must be physically in the building to be counted present. The criteria used to require return to campus-supervised instruction for students are as follows:

  1. Student is failing two core courses for the semester (Grades 6 - 12)
  2. Student is failing reading or math for the semester (Grades PK - 5)
  3. Student has received more than 8 unexcused absences for the semester (All Grades)
