DeSoto High School seniors and twin sisters, Jazmine and Jazzie Jackson have been named semi-finalists for the prestigious and highly-competitive QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship.

Through this scholarship, recipients are eligible to obtain early admission to several of the nation’s top universities and colleges and full four-year funding worth over $200,000.

“The QuestBridge scholarship would benefit my family by allowing us not to experience a financial burden,’ said Jazzie Jackson. “This scholarship is a great opportunity to enjoy college without the stress of loans and hardships.”

Should the twins receive the QuestBridge scholarship or any other financial assistance to cover collegiate costs, they both plan to attend Stanford University next fall. And for Jazmine, she’s more than ready to attend thanks to the help of her DeSoto Early College High School teachers.

“I strongly believe that the teachers at DHS prepared me to be college-ready because of the challenging coursework I was given,” said Jazmine. “Teachers such as Mr. Patrizio and Ms. Garner impacted me the most because they are very passionate about teaching. I am grateful for their excellent teaching that goes beyond standards.”

Over 18,000 students across the nation applied for the QuestBridge scholarship this year and nearly 7,000 were selected as finalists. Students must exhibit primarily A’s “in the most challenging courses available including Honors AP courses,” according to the QuestBridge website. They must also be ranked in the Top 5-10% of their class to be considered.

Class of 2020 graduate and Top-10 senior Alanah Armstead received the QuestBridge scholarship and currently attends Yale University. Read more about Armstead’s journey here.

The Jackson twins will be notified in early December on Match Day if they are awarded the scholarship.

DeSoto ISD congratulates these two students on this amazing accomplishment. The District encourages students and parents to visit the College, Career, and Military Readiness webpage on the district’s website to view scholarship opportunities for all grade levels. Families are also encouraged to complete the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form to apply for financial aid for college.
