The April 21, 2020, installment of the DeSoto ISD Town Hall Tuesdays at Noon series, a new weekly, mid-day virtual dialogue set to take place every Tuesday in April, will focus on physical and emotional wellness during the CoVid-19 public health crisis.

Moderated by DeSoto ISD Chief of Staff Sonya Cole-Hamilton, this health and wellness dialogue will include insights from medical experts in the DeSoto Community.

  • Dr. Jelani Ingram--Family Health and Wellness

    Dr. Jelani Ingram, a DeSoto High School Class of 2000 graduate and Board Certified Medical Doctor, Health Advocate, and Fitness Enthusiast whose problem-solving skills, compassion, and integrity have all earned him a reputation as a thought leader. His sights are set on improving healthcare on a global scale by harnessing the power of not only medical treatment, but daily fitness and dietary regimens. He has appeared on DocTalk360 Season 1, Doctor Radio, and Fox and also serves as a Consultant for Teladoc and the Medical Director of Bishop Arts Wellness & Recovery Center.  “Fighting with Your Eyes Closed: A First Year’s Guide to Medical School” & “EXERCISE & MUSCLE RECOVERY: TIPS FOR SPEEDY RECOVERY AFTER EXERCISE” are his first two publications.

  • Dr. Ahmad Garrett-Price - Family Medicine

    Dr. Ahmad Garrett-Price, a Board Certified Family Physician with Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas, Texas and a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.  He currently serves as the Lead Physician in a new membership based Practice at Baylor Scott and White Health in Dallas, Texas, as well as on the Ambulatory Care Governance Committee and the North Texas Virtual Health Committee for Baylor Scott and White. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine.  

  • Dr. Brenda Richardson Rowe--Mental Emotional Health and Wellness

    Dr. Brenda Richardson Rowe serves as the Director of Counseling of the Harmony Counseling Center where her primary mission is to heal those who are hurt, wrap those who are wounded and free those who are bound. A native of Dallas, Texas, Richardson Rowe is a graduate of Amberton University and  Cornerstone University/Calvary Seminary. Dr. Richardson is Commissioned as a Minister of Counseling and is licensed as a Clinical Pastoral Counselor and Clinical Christian Counselor.

  • Dr. Mona Robbins--Mental Emotional Health and Wellness

Dr. Robbins is a graduate of Howard University.  and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign currently serving as Assistant Professor and Licensed Psychologist at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where she provides psychological services to adult patients with cancer. Using a developmental lens, she has provided care to children, adolescents, and adults to understand disease progression and coping. Her interventions focus on psychosocial, biological, and cultural dynamics that promote and hinder mental health wellness. She is a founder and President of the Dallas-Fort Worth Association of Black Psychologists and has served on the Executive Committee of the Dallas Psychological Association.

All members of the DeSoto ISD school community are welcome to participate in the virtual town hall series sessions and can submit questions via this link to be addressed during the Zoom meeting.

Following the April 21, 2020 Town Hall Tuesdays at Noon  the district will host the final installment of the series on April 28, 2020, which will focus on the DeSoto ISD Student Perspectives during CoVid-19 with the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council  

It is important to note that all virtual meetings have a capacity of 100 online attendees, therefore, registration will automatically close once the virtual meeting reaches capacity. Upon conclusion of the meeting, a link to the complete session will be posted to the district’s social media platforms for later viewing.
