8th Grade EXPO

7:15 a.m. - Meet at your middle school for breakfast and group assignments, buses will take all students to DHS. Buses will leave promptly!  Please do not be late!

East Middle School,
 601 E. Belt Line Rd., DeSoto
West Middle School, 800 N. Westmoreland Rd., DeSoto
McCowan Middle School, 1500 Majestic Meadows Dr., Glenn Heights

8:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. - DHS, MPC, FC Gym for activities and lunch.
Buses will return students to their middle school about 2 p.m. for parent pick up

December 18 to January 17
Pre-registration students are guaranteed a shirt and entered into the drawings

Current 8th graders from all three middle schools are invited to a special day to explore academics and extracurriculars at DeSoto High School, learn about clubs, enjoy fellowship and team building exercises, plus enjoy food, games, and prizes. 

DeSoto ISD 2018 Parent Porch

December 18 to January 17

The 2018 Parent Porch will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the DeSoto High School - Freshman Campus Cafeteria. This event is geared toward the parents of current DeSoto ISD 8th graders who are attending the 8th Grade EXPO the same day. Park at the front of the Freshman Campus or between Eagle Stadium and Freshman Campus. Check-in and child care start at 10:30 a.m.

The Parent Porch Guest Speaker will be Mr. Nakia Douglas, the recently named UNT Dallas Executive Director of TRIO and Precollegiate Programs. Mr. Douglas, a lifetime educator from South Dallas who previous led the Barack Obama Academy in Dallas, shares his best practices for academic developement with parents and encourages families to seek opportunities for student growth and success.

The 8th Grade Parent Porch includes an overview of 9th-grade preparations and expectations, a keynote speaker, and lunch. The event is free, however, parents should register by Jan. 17 to be included.
