How to Become a Substitute

Substitute Teacher Applicants

DeSoto ISD is accepting substitute teacher applications for the 
2016-2017 school year.

If you are interested in attending, please complete all required steps listed below and once your certificate of completion is received, an acknowledgment email will be sent with details regarding TEA Fingerprint request as well as the details of the orientation event
  As stated below, applications without the proper attachments will not be considered.

Requirements to be a Substitute Teacher

  •           Certified Teacher OR
  •           Hold a Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctoral degree OR
  •           60 or more college credit hours

Application Process:

1)     CLICK HERE to complete the online Substitute application.


2)     Register on EdTraining Center - Click HERE:

a)     Complete the mandatory 20 hours Introductory  Teacher Training (for Substitute Teachers)

b)     Cost - $20 fee (non-refundable)

i)       Click on Learning

ii)     Click on Browse for Training

iii)    Click on Introductory Teacher Training                              (for Substitute Teachers)


3)   Submit your certificate of completion to:


After you completed the Substitute Teacher Training, your fingerprints will need to be requested from TEA. If they are not previously on file, The State Board for Educator Certification, SBEC, will issue a FAST pass for you to make an appointment with IdentoGO via


If your application does not meet the above criteria, you will not be contacted.
