Collegiate Magnet Program



The DeSoto High School Collegiate Magnet Program provides students the opportunity to concurrently earn a high school diploma and an associate degree at no cost to the student and family in preparation for future endeavors and global challenges.

DeSoto High School CMP students can take advantage of 11 degree programs and more than 25 college and career industry certifications which provide credentials that afford students experiences that qualify them as being immediately work-force ready. Through personalized degree plans designed with a counselor and academic advisor, students are guided towards DeSoto High School’s Career Academy programs which include specializations available under the broader academies of Health and Science, Arts and Performance, Professional, Business and Technology.

      Arts and Performance Pathways of Study include:

  • Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communications
  • Theatre, Musical Theatre, Performance, Performance Theatre, Technical Theatre and Dance
  • Journalism/Photography
  • Band, Choir and Music

      Business and Technology Pathways of Study include:

  • Business Management and Administration
  • Finance
  • Information Technology
  • Marketing
  • Transportation, Distribution and Logistics

      Health and Science Pathways of Study include:

  • Agriculture
  • Health Science
  • Medicine
  • and Natural Resources

      Classical Academy Pathways of Study include:

           -The Classical Academy is an opportunity for students to create their own hybrid of personalized study from DeSoto High School’s body of Career Academy offerings.

      Professional Academy Pathways of Study include:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Education and Training
  • Hospitality and Tourism
  • Human Services

In the DeSoto Collegiate Magnet Program, our mission is to provide students the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and an associate's degree in preparation for future endeavors and global challenges. Staff, parents, students, and community stakeholders will work together to instill in each student the academic social skills necessary for responsible and productive citizenship through professional development, community service, and scholarship opportunities.


  • To create a means to higher education for first-generation college students.
  • To provide dual credit to students at no cost along with intense academic counseling.
  • To develop course work which reflects a college curriculum.
  • To increase college attendance and success rates for students.
  • To promote a college culture among students on and off campus. 


  • CMP students receive the opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree in high school and at no cost.
  • CMP students complete their traditional high school diploma while simultaneously completing college courses online, at the high school, and at the college.
  • The DeSoto Collegiate Magnet Program (CMP) offers eleven different degree choices and over 25 college and industry certifications through personalized degree plans based on student interest.
  • Degree plans are carefully selected to complement the existing DeSoto High School College and Career Academies. Choices include health and science, arts and performance, professional, business, and technology fields.
