Last month, ten DeSoto High School students competed in the NAACP Tri-Cities Branch Local ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics) competition at DeSoto High School. Several students compete in the vocal category (classical and classical), culinary arts, oratory, engineering, poetry (performance and written), instrumental (classical and classical), dramatics, and dance.

This competition was filled with several students from around the Metroplex with competitive programs, and DeSoto went home with the most awards! These students will represent Texas at the 108th NAACP Convention & ACT-SO Competition in Baltimore, Maryland that will take place in July! During this time they will attend several master classes and compete for scholarship money.
