Homebound

Homebound instruction is available to any DeSoto ISD student who is expected to be confined for a minimum of four weeks as documented by a physician licensed to practice in the United States. This includes at least four consecutive weeks or, for chronically ill students, any period of time totaling at least four weeks. If a student is confined to a hospital outside of DeSoto ISD for four (4) weeks or more, homebound service may be available through that particular school district in which the hospital is located. If the confined student is already served through Special Education, the ARD committee shall determine the number of services to be provided to the student in a homebound setting. If not served in Special Education, the campus’ 504 Committee shall determine services.

How to receive help

Homebound enrollment forms may be obtained at each school campus. If there are further questions regarding homebound instruction, please contact the Coordinator for Homebound Instruction for General Education in the Special Programs Department or for Special Education in the Special Education Department.
