DeSoto ISD Announces an Early Signing Day for State UIL Championship DHS Lady Eagles Basketball Team Class of 2022 Seniors

DeSoto ISD is proud to announce the Early Athletic Signing Day event for seven DeSoto High School seniors on the UIL State Championship Lady Eagles Girls Basketball team at 11:30 a.m. on November 10 in the DeSoto High School Chris Dyer Gymnasium located at 600 Eagle Drive in DeSoto.


Each of the seven student-athletes slates to sign letters of intent to play collegiate basketball are all standout members of the 2021 state championship team and are included in the Dallas Morning News’ Top 20 Recruiting Class of 2022. 


DeSoto High School four-star, all-state senior Sa’Myah Smith, the Lady Eagles 6'4 combo forward, ranks No.1 on the DMN list and has officially committed to Lousiana State University (LSU) as of October 2021. Two other DHS Lady Eagles help round out the top three recruits, Amina Muhummad and Tionna Herron who rank No. 2 and No. 3 respectively. 


The complete list of DeSoto Lady Eagles who are planning to officially sign their letters of intent are included below.

  •  Tionna Herron (PF, C) – University of Kentucky (UK)
  •  Amina Muhammad (SF, PF) – The University of Texas at Austin (UT)
  •  Jiya Perry (SG, SF) – Southern Methodist University (SMU)
  •  Sa’Myah Smith (PF) – Louisiana State University (LSU)
  • Ayanna Thompson (SG, SF) - University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)
