DeSoto ISD is proud to announce the introduction of afterschool programming for scholars in our school community.

In the coming weeks, families will have the opportunity to apply for enrichment-based after school care at all district elementary campuses. Applications will open soon and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis for inclusion in the DeSoto ISD Eagles Nest Afterschool Enrichment program.

Additionally, based on needs identified through a review of students' academic assessments, families will receive an invitation for their child to take part in academic tutoring at select campuses. This afterschool tutoring opportunity, funded by the City of DeSoto, will also extend services to non-DeSoto ISD scholars who live in DeSoto.

Transportation and snacks will be provided as an added support for students engaged in the City Tutoring program.

DeSoto Eagles Nest After School Enrichment Program

DeSoto ISD understands that parents and families have unique needs that can be supported via viable after school programs that offer enrichment opportunities as an extension of students’ learning experience.

With this in mind, DeSoto  ISD, through the added support of ESER funds, has designed the DeSoto ISD Eagles Nest, or DEN, a daily afterschool enrichment opportunity for elementary students led by district educators.

Each campus will provide unique offerings to students Monday through Friday afterschool on the campus. During this time, students will be provided a nutritious snack and participate in supervised enrichment activities until 6pm.

Each campus will allot 75 spots for district students to be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

City Tutoring Program

The City of DeSoto is partnering  with DeSoto ISD to offer core curriculum tutoring to district students and students who reside in the City of DeSoto at no cost to families.

The tutoring will occur two to three days per week after school at select campuses. Students will receive transportation and an afternoon snack while participating in tutoring sessions.

City Tutoring will serve approximately 1, 050 students in grades three through five in Math and Reading. Each student will receive more than 90 hours of tutoring during the academic year to address academic gaps.

City Tutoring will facilitate a soft start on October 4, 2021, launch full-scale tutoring on October 11, 2021, and continue through April 8, 2022.

Sessions will be facilitated in groups of no more than five students per tutor.

Students will engage in two hours of tutoring per day in sessions that will occur two days per week.
