December 12, 2019 DHS Update

Dear Parents and Community:

It is our practice in DeSoto ISD, we take all matters of safety and security seriously and will continue to prioritize maintaining a safe learning environment.

We understand the level of concern that this incident has created and want to ensure that we are working collaboratively to resolve this matter and alleviate fears.

As an added security measure, we will continue to enlist the support of additional security personnel at DeSoto High School as well as support from central office staff through the conclusion of the school day on Friday, December 13, and, if necessary, throughout next week.

We are planning for instruction to continue as scheduled. Therefore, we ask that students and staff plan to attend school on Friday, December 13. It is important to note that those students and families who choose to refrain from attending school on Friday will be held to our standard practice related to the documentation of late arrivals and absences.

Please know the safety and security of every person in our school system is important to me.

As I’m sure you understand, all members of our school community share in the responsibility of maintaining a safe and secure learning environment. If you or someone you know has any information related to any suspicious activity, please report it to an officer or administrator as soon as possible.

Let’s continue working together to be the best we can be at all times but especially in moments such as these.
