Superintendent's Holiday Message

Superintendent's Family

Dear DeSoto ISD,

Every morning, I wake up early jittering with excitement about the day ahead. There’s just something electrifying about being a part of this moment in the story that will be written about our DeSoto ISD.

For the last 96 days, I have spent every waking minute thinking, analyzing, listening, and learning all things DeSoto ISD. My findings are daily reminders about both the strengths and opportunities that exist at every level of our system. Above all, I have sincerely enjoyed getting to know you, the children and parents we serve, and the community that supports our work. I am eager to spend the days, months, and years to come getting to know everyone who contributes their time and talents to our team and for our children.

As many of you know, 2019 will be another significant chapter in our District’s storybook. You can expect to see more course-defining actions and tangible responses to the current state of our financial, academic, and organizational health. I’m asking each of you to stick with us during this time of uncertainty. Don’t give up on our system or our children and families who require an excellent education as we retool and evolve. We’ll have to make tough decisions next year for sure, but we all must continue to be student focused and people oriented.

Team, I’m more than confident that we will prevail. It won’t be easy, but we have to — no other options exist.

As 2018 comes to an end, join me in taking a moment to reflect on the people and events that have enriched your life and brought joy to your spirit. I’d like to thank everyone who has been so kind and welcoming to my family and me as we’ve transitioned into this tight-knit community. I’ve experienced genuine love and support during the last three months and it’s made my time in DeSoto more than memorable.

I look forward to seeing you and your family in the community and on Twitter! Tag me in your holiday experiences and let’s stay in touch during the break.

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Love,

D’Andre
