DeSoto ISD Frequently Asked Questions  

What are the school start and dismissal times for 2017-18?

Early Childhood Academy Pre-K 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Elementary Schools K to 5 th grade 8:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Middle Schools 6 th to 8 th grade 8:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
High School 9 th to 12 th grade 7:30 a.m. – 2:54 p.m.

In order to ensure your child’s safety before and after school, we ask that students be dropped off in the morning no earlier than allowed times:

  • Elementary Schools - 7:30 a.m.
  • Middle Schools - 7:30 a.m.
  • High School - 7:00 a.m.

Pick-up for students must be arranged for the time that school dismisses. Supervision of students is not provided before or after these times.

How do I enroll my child for school in DeSoto ISD?
Please bring the following information for each child:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • Immunization Records
  • Proof of Residency – parent must show a current Texas driver’s license or Texas ID card and current gas, electric or utility receipt and a signed affidavit of residency (forms available at each school)
  • Report cards (if applicable)

Can I transfer my child to another school within the district?

Per board policy, students are expected to attend the campus as designated by the attendance zone. Currently approved transfers may continue until the last grade completed, but a new Transfer Request Form must be completed each year. New transfer requests are limited to extenuating documented cases. Transfer Request Forms may be picked up and turned in at the Instructional Support Center (200 E. Belt Line Rd.) during the designated time each spring. For more information, call 972 223-6666 ext. 214.

Does DeSoto ISD have a uniform dress policy?

DeSoto ISD has a uniform dress policy for students in grades PreK-8 and guidelines for students in grades 9-12. Elementary and middle school students must wear white, forest green, gold, gray or black tops, spirit and college shirts. Bottoms must be khaki, black or DeSoto plaid. 

High school students must wear clothing that fits with no holes/tears. Pants, shorts, skirts can be any fabric, color and print. Tops can be spirit shirts, college shirts or solid-colored, collared shirts. Campus administration will have final judgment on all dress compliance matters.

Can I check my child’s lunch account on-line?
Yes! Please visit our Child Nutrition Web page and scroll to the "Lunch Money Now Online System for Parents" to find information on account balances and to deposit money into accounts.

Where can I find the contact information for each campus?
Each campus has a Web page that is accessible from the district homepage. Principal, teacher, and staff contact information is available on each campus page. The campus address, phone number, and fax number is located on each campus homepage.
