MISSION
The DeSoto ISD Grant Writing and Community Partnerships Department provides support for educators and the district by seeking and acquiring grants as well as developing community partnerships with businesses, organizations and individuals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
DeSoto ISD District Awards for Teacher Excellence (DATE)
DeSoto ISD has been awarded up to $540,305 to distribute to eligible educators for teaching excellence inthe 2010-11 school year. See links below for detailed criteria and action plan for the program.
WINGS - Dropout Recovery Program
WINGS is the new dropout recovery program in DeSoto ISD. This program will begin Monday, August 23, 2010 and be located at 200 S. Hampton Rd. (next to Leeo's Chicken). This program is free to those students who have dropped out of a Texas public school and meet certain requirements. The goal of this program is to provide students the opportunity to earn the credits and skills needed for a high school diploma. Students are allowed to work at their own pace and as their schedule allows.
Offerings will include:
· childcare
· credit recovery computer programs,
· small classes
· dual credit programs
· tutoring
· financial aid and college entrance counseling
· job and career fairs
· family counseling
· substance abuse counseling
· information on area resources
· personal mentors

MENTORING
If you know a child in DeSoto that you believe needs a mentor please print and complete the Child Referral Form below and return it to the child's school or the Mentoring Program Office. Please consider becoming a mentor through one of the many opportunities we have to offer.
